Single-Sided Deafness: A Graphical Tale
At age six, I was struck by a bad case of the flu, and my fever reached over 106 degrees. On my next visit to the pediatrician, they discovered I was 100% deaf in my right ear. This is a graphical tale of the ways that single-sided deafness affects the lives of people like me, people who hear with only one side.

It's amazing to read through Lauren's visual presentation. My mom has always been deaf in one ear it gets very frustrating when she cannot hear and/or does not respond when being spoken to.
This presentation really helps me to appreciate her situation and I will now try to ensure that we are not in an environment that adds to her disability. It will also (hopefully) help me to be more patient in conversations with my mom.
Thanks for sharing!

Lauren, Thanks for this, I also have SSD, in my left ear. It is such a frustrating impairment, I thought I had grown used to it after 30 years, but certainly when on a phone or in a room that has people/noise in it, it really effects me.
