Connected Home Health: frogHealth's Newest Twitter Chat

We are excited to announce that our next twitter chat for #frogHealth will take place on Thursday June 4th, 2009 at 12:30pm ET. The topic for this edition is Connected Home Health, which we loosely define as connected ecosystems of people, devices, and services to better manage health and wellness at home.

Please join frog design (@frogdesign) and use the #frogHealth tag. Our past discussions have been very lively, deeply insightful, and fun for all of our participants. We hope that you can join and make it a great event.

About the topic:
Connected home health has recently been a source of discussion in the media, and is a primary focus for collaborative, open industry health organizations such as the Continua Health Alliance. In addition, companies like Intel and GE have been making headlines with their efforts in this space. frog design believes that connected home health provides unparalleled opportunities to more effectively deliver care and improve overall health experiences.

The topic of connected home health is extremely broad and can touch almost every facet of healthcare. It could include: health & wellness, fitness, childcare, telemedicine, disease management, pharmacy compliance, independent living and more. In addition, connected home health deals not only with the patient, but family members, friends, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, personal trainers, insurance reps, billing administrators, and many other system participants. Finally, in discussing connected home health, we may look at devices such as mobile phones, consumer electronics, fitness equipment, home automation technologies, and specialized medical devices (e.g., glucose monitors), but the conversation would not be complete without mentioning services like electronic health records, remote monitoring, and social networks.

In the end, connected home health is a massive topic, so with this conversation we hope to define what it can really mean, and then move on to more specific areas of focus to generate some innovative ideas.

See you on Thursday!

What is “#frogHealth”:
Every two months or so, frog design hosts a live forum on twitter that one of our first participants dubbed “curated crowdsourcing”. Our goal is create a stimulating and exciting forum to generate discussion, insights, and ideas for improving healthcare. In advance of the forum, we choose a timely topic dealing with health, user experience, business, and design. Then, we moderate the conversation by presenting 6-10 provocative questions. After the conclusion of the forum, we create a summary that we put on the DesignWell blog.

How to Participate:
All you need is a twitter account, and to log on while the forum is active. The conversation is based on the “#froghealth” hash tag, which you need to include in each tweet. A variety of tools can be used to follow along: the twitter search function, tweetdeck, tweetchat.com, or any of the 3rd party tools out there.

Participation Guidelines:
Please help us keep this event interesting and insightful. We are passionate about making healthcare more effective, affordable, and an overall better experience for everyone involved – from patients to corporations. With that in mind, please:

•      Be on topic and stay relevant

•      Think creatively and help us find big insights

•      Try to stick with our format (send us a direct message if you have comments or suggestions)

•      Be nice, respect others, and be open to opinions that you do not share

•      Don’t spam or promote shamelessly

Thank you for joining the conversation!
