Superprototyping Meets Chroma

In the Connected age, where everyone is engaged via mobile and available at a click, moments of being simply human turn into a true relief: a moment of playfulness and intuition, a moment of being weird or a moment of face to face interaction.  These human interactions make way for experimentation, collaboration, and iteration on ideas: welcome to the art of superprototyping.

Right now, frog is inspired by Chroma. Chroma is an interactive ecosystem looking for balance, designed by a collective of five (including a frog). Every part of it is sensitive to disturbances ; the smallest human intervention can have a great effect – a constant ”superprototyping” of sensational light and color reaction chains.  The Chroma is also very sensitive to its own touch, so an explosion of color occurs whenever its compontents touch.

Chroma's five designers created a platform for interactivity. The lamps invite onlookers to freely explore, play and manipulate. As a visitor, you determine how Chroma behaves: wild and unpredictable or calm and harmonious. A natural balance will be found regardless of how Chroma is approached.

Designer collective Chroma Interactive was founded at the Industrial Design faculty of TU Eindhoven. Previous works include a huge illuminated mouse pointer and a consumerist Pac-Man arcade cabinet. Within this collective everyone brings in their own expertise to the design and create technically and conceptually interesting interactive products.

At frog, we understand the art of Superprototyping. Early in our concepting phases we sketch with technology, build light interaction models and quickly discover the personality and behaviors of an early idea. Our clients become part of this early concepting and immerse themselves in frog’s collaborative process immediately. It is the systematic layering of inspiration and implementation, that results in innovation.
