Wrap Up: Finance Innovation Forum

frog Executive Creative Director Jan Chipchase gave the keynote presentation at the Finance Innovation Forum in Beijing, an event organized by one of China’s leading business magazines, CEOCIO. Conference attendees included bankers and industry leaders in the finance and insurance industries. Chipchase’s talk, “Insights of Mobile Banking,” included research findings from his recent trip to Afghanistan where he investigated how people are using cell phones to do their banking—known  in the industry as mobile money.

From his blog Future Perfect, Jan highlights the importance of considering the virtual audience in presentations:

“History’ is increasingly the digital memory of event – it starts with the conversations leading up to, during and after the event – it’s the photos posted online, the retweeted quotes, the barbs, the likes, the references, the downloads. The presenter can’t control history but she can nudge it in the right direction. For any given presentation what artifacts do you leave behind? Where are they linked from? How can they be repurposed, reused? And what is the thread that links them back to you and what you’ve done? Who is the gatekeeper of your history? What is their motivation both now and in the future?”

In the spirit of Jan’s idea of three audiences, we’ve posted the slides below for you to look through. A full Chinese transcript of Jan’s speech can be found in the HeXun, a top finance news online media.  (English translation can be found here)
