For decades, the light emitting diode, or LED, has given us the blinking red lights on our camcorders and answering machines. First used as low intensity electrical components in the early 1960s, today’s LEDs are being used in street lights, traffic signals, mobile phone displays, televisions, and lighting. But are LEDs really ready for the home? I decided to do a simple test to find out.
