Blog DESIgn MASALA

My wife and I often shop for clothes or home furnishings at the Fabindia store in Koramangala, Bangalore. As we are waiting for our turn at the billing counter, we can't help but notice their line up of Organic products. The shelves close to the billing counter lure people with a variety of teas and pickles and often they end up picking up something from this section. The billing space is designed to upsell.
It interests me how subtle and diverse aspects of our environment influence our behavior. Fabindia is a simple example of how retail spaces are designed to influence consumer behavior. This concept can be applied in more complex ways, in different spaces.
