Industries are embracing “game mechanics” to influence and change behavior now more than ever. No industry is more ripe for change and suited for this “gamification” than health care.
On May 3 - 5 at the Space Needle in Seattle, frog design will host "Changing the Game,” a health conference in partnership with the Innovation Learning Network, where front-line innovators and leaders of healthcare innovation will explore how to take advantage of gaming ideas and principles to inspire innovation in the serious world of healthcare.
In addition to a great line-up of industry experts from healthcare and gaming, there will be a variety of interactive activities to inspire meaningful ideas and stimulate rich discussions. frog creatively shaped a number of interactive Microsoft Xbox Kinect hacks for the opening party of SXSW '11 and the MIX 11 conference and will now customize the "Wall Panic," a human Tetris-like game, with a healthcare focus exclusively for the ILN summit.
Some highlights at the ILN Summit:
frog Principal Designer Giorgio Baresi will explore how to turn mHealth solutions into meaningful, life-changing experiences by leveraging people's emotions and confidence in their own means.
Award-winning game designer Jason Morningstar will focus on low tech games used to promote effective pedagogy. Game-based solutions using nothing more complicated than a note card or stopwatch are easy to overlook in the rush toward effective solutions to focused problems. Jason will facilitate an interactive workshop with participants to experience how the emergent properties of human social interaction, combined with the engagement games inherently bring, can be powerful tools for teaching and learning.
Award-winning innovator and founder of the Innovation Management Institute Julian Keith Loren will explore some of the challenges of cross-disciplinary co-creation and ways that we can use games to build great teams that create breakthrough solutions.
