In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it became obvious that America was frustratingly ill-prepared to house people displaced by a natural disaster. frog Senior Designer Michael McDaniel took this as a design challenge. His Reaction Housing System — inspired by the humble Styrofoam cup — could be deployed quickly and cheaply to help us when we need it most.

Great project, but I do think your comparison is a bit unfair.
There's a big difference between a trailer or cottage and these units.
I think you could live comfortably in these units for a few days, but no longer. The other units are 2 to 3 times bigger and a closer to a small apartment. This solution is more like a tent.
I think it would be great to apply your thinking to providing larger medium-term accommodation.
It's definately cost

It's definately cost effective, it might be better to take some people that are living in crowded trailers and give them their own space.
Great Idea!!
Yes, This cost Much
