Watch frog designers, strategists, and technologists present their work and ideas to conference goers in cities around the world.
Can designers affect user behavior enough to create lasting change in the healthcare industry? How can we use biomedical feedback to improve technology? frog Creative Director Fabio Sergio talks to the crowd at Mobile Monday Amsterdam in January 2010 about how biometric data will become the source of new conversations. Filled with inspiring examples he questions what the nature of these new conversations will be.

Regarding DNA and social networking "never thought about it", I'd recommend the Mr. Sergio watch the movie "Gattaca".

Gattaca, yes, a bit slow for my tastes but still enjoyable.
Loved the use of places like Frank Lloyd Wright's Marin County Civic Center and cars from the 70's coupled with cold-toned photography to displace users into a future that feels familiar but foreign at the same time.
I guess that feeling is what you're hinting at, only applied to real life, isn't it?
Yes, I do feel the same way too, at times.
That's why I think we better think about these changes sooner rather than later, and that we form an opinion on them before others will choose for us, and work to provide alternatives if needed (or even possible).
Issues of identity, control, transparency and reciprocity are at the center here, and they won't go away saying that we are afraid of them...

No, that's not what I was hinting at. While I appreciated the aesthetics and art direction choices (especially the inclusion of an Avanti), I was referring to the way people were secretly taking samples from potential partners and submitting them to a walk-up DNA-testing service for evaluation. That gets to the question raised by a member of your audience. I'm a little surprised you answered that you hadn't given the issue any thought. If you've seen "Gattaca", I can't imagine you haven't.
The issues about which you speak - "identity, control, transparency and reciprocity" - are also topics I've raised (e.g. "Reputation Chameleon" - http://blog.rebang.com/?p=1415 and "The Body Public" - http://futurismic.com/2009/03/18/the-body-pub... and "Susan Wu On Virtuality" - http://blog.rebang.com/?p=1214 ), so we're on the same page. I was just surprised at your answer and believe "Gattaca" - as slow as it might seem compared to most science fiction film fare - intelligently introduces the problems of a world in which our DNA are, effectively, our calling cards.
